Why your doctor prescribed ZYFLO CR®
Your doctor may have prescribed ZYFLO CR® because it works differently than other medications you may have tried to help you gain control of your asthma symptoms.

ZYFLO CR® is designed to prevent chemicals called leukotrienes (luke-oh-TRY-enz) from being made by your body. Only zileuton, the active ingredient in ZYFLO CR®, helps stop the production of the leukotrienes that may contribute to the swelling and inflammation that cause asthma symptoms.

ZYFLO CR® has been shown to improve your ability to breathe in and out (your lung function) and may reduce your need for a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms.

Why Zyflo CR
ZYFLO CR® is a medicine that is used to prevent asthma attacks and for long-term management of asthma in adults and children 12 years of age and older.  ZYFLO CR® is not a rescue medicine and should not be used if you need relief right away for an asthma attack. However, you can continue taking your regularly scheduled dose of ZYFLO CR® during an asthma attack.
